A photo says a thousand words, but what is the relevance of those words?

 

My name is Atiya J. Muhammad. I discovered my love for photography at a young age. Growing up, I always flipped through my family photo albums and asked my mother a thousand questions about those in the photos and where they were. Through examining these photos, I learned about my family history and got a feel for the personalities of family members who I have never met. The photo captured them in a moment that spoke volumes about the kind of people they were.

As a young adult, I have been able to capture those moments for myself and others.
